Win an iPad From VIVmag!

At our first magazine job, an orange cursor blinked as the words we typed appeared on a black screen, and the staff of four publications shared one lone computer with Internet access. It’s safe to say we’ve seen a lot of technology advances in our day. But we’ve never seen as much excitement as that surrounding the iPad.

In case you somehow haven’t heard, Apple’s new handheld tablet allows easy access to the Internet, email, photos, music, maps, movies — and even books, with the free iBooks app. But we’re most excited, of course, about the new opportunity to read digital magazines, such as VIVmag, on a handheld device with a large screen, through the free Zinio app for iPad. To celebrate, we’re giving away a free iPad — along with a free year membership to VIVmag — to two lucky winners every week now through May 2!

To enter, simply create a video, telling us what part of VIVmag you’re most looking forward to exploring on the iPad. (If you’re not already a subscriber to our digital and interactive magazine, take a sneak peek of the March/April Green Issue, featuring Hollywood eco-couple Rachelle and Ed Begley Jr., agritourism and a guide to websites that make it easy to dine sustainably.) Post the video to YouTube and make sure the title includes the phrase “VIVmag for iPad Giveaway Entry,” and you’ll be entered to win an iPad.

Telling your friends to view the video will increase your chances of winning; each unique view counts as another entry, but you must make your statistics public. (To do so, log in to YouTube, select “My Account” and select “Privacy” from the menu on the left. Make sure that the box is checked next to “Make statistics and data for my videos publicly visible by default.”)

Participants can enter the contest through Twitter once per week or tweet every day to increase chances of winning, but only one tweet is allowed per day.

One winner will be selected each week from the Facebook and Twitter entries as well. To be eligible, Twitter and Facebook accounts must have been created by March 22, 2010. The last day to enter is May 2, 2010, and the final winner will be announced May 4.
