The Skin Cancer Foundation receives 50 percent of the proceeds from this ViX Swimwear sundress.
Summertime brings two of our favorite things: trips to the beach and sundress weather! But remember to stock up on sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays that could lead to skin cancer — May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, after all. In honor of that occasion, beginning May 15 ViX Swimwear is offering two sundresses ($285 each; one in black and one in white) with 50 percent of the proceeds donated to the Skin Cancer Foundation. The group funds skin-cancer prevention, research and education programs. Don’t forget to enter the special promo code (SCF30) when ordering online to receive 30 percent off.
Every year in the United States, there are more cases of skin cancer than the combined instances of breast, colon, lung and prostate cancers. About 90 percent of non-melanoma skin cancers are related to UV radiation. These statistics prompted Paula Hermanny, ViX’s founder and creative director, to promote skin-cancer prevention awareness. “I felt compelled to craft beautiful dresses to encourage, educate and empower women to be conscious of the sun,” she says. Take care when soaking up rays — no one wants to end up looking like this after a beach nap. The Skin Cancer Foundation’s sunscreen guide recommends applying 1 ounce of sunscreen — at least SPF 15 — half an hour before going outside.
We love that ViX is raising awareness about skin-cancer prevention with such gorgeous dresses. While supplies last, those who order online also receive a free headband for keeping tresses tousled by the ocean breeze in place. Do you have any sun-safety advice?
