India's Mughal Dynasty influenced Tia Cibani's collection for Ports 1961.
Part four of VIV’s Fashion Week coverage highlights more statement-making designers. Take note!
Vera Wang
For Wang, black is back! Her dark yet chic collection focused on timeless designs, such as classic black dresses, a fitted cardigan worn over a sparkly tank, and blazers and coats paired with trousers. Our favorites were the two looks that took a risk: an organza charcoal halter top that resembled a delicate flower petal worn over a brocade straight skirt and a rose-hued organza dress cinched at the waist with an oversized belt.
Ports 1961
Creative director Tia Cibani was heavily influenced by India’s Mughal Dynasty. Highlights of her artistic collection were the elegant sari-like dresses and tops as well as the voluminous coat dress nipped in at the bodice and embellished at the neckline. Patterns ranged from garden-inspired embroidery, tie-dye and tapestry while fabrics included delicate lace and chiffon mixed with heavy velvet, twill and wool.
Naeem Khan
By far one of the most stunning presentations, Khan’s show was held at his beautiful Garment District showroom. The rich collection focused on crystal beading, silver filigree, metallic embroidery and fox trim as well as several asymmetrical designs. The color palette included midnight, white, gunmetal, silver, gold, valentine, emerald and nude as well as one pretty lavender number. While the entire collection is definitely red-carpet-ready, we especially loved the white chiffon goddess gown with pearl and crystal neckline and the strapless tiered ecru beaded gown.
