Thibiant's new Complex Organics line features natural ingredients such as honey, murumuru seeds and rolled oats.
The Parisian-trained esthetician Aida Thibiant introduced Hollywood to the European tradition of no-nonsense deep-cleaning facials when she opened her Beverly Hills spa some 33 years ago. Over the years, the legendary “face saver to the stars” has seen everyone from Ali McGraw and Rod Stewart to Jodie Foster and Hayden Panettiere. But now in her 80s, Thibiant is retiring and Thibiant Beverly Hills is coming under the direction of plastic surgeon Harry Glassman, M.D.
Several of Thibiant’s longtime estheticians remain, including Georgette, under whose very capable hands we recently enjoyed an Oxyfusion Luminous Glow Facial, a therapeutic, but pampering, treatment that uses an airbrushlike wand and a stream of hyperbaric, or pressurized, oxygen to saturate the skin with a serum of hyaluronic acid, botanical brighteners and superconcentrated vitamin C. It’s perfect for plumping and smoothing the skin, Georgette told us, before walking the red carpet. (We, on the other hand, were planning to spend the evening in search of L.A.’s elusive and revered Korean taco truck.)
We would have taken Georgette home with us if we could. Instead we did the next best thing and left with some products from the new Thibiant Complex Organics line, including Face Wash ($38), a gel-based cleanser with aloe vera, chamomile extract, cucumber and antioxidant green tea, and Face Scrub ($42), which exfoliates with murumuru and cupuaçu seeds from Amazonian trees.
