Call us old-fashioned, but when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts, we still love flowers and candy — an excuse to indulge in the latter always is welcome. So we easily became enamored with Theo Chocolate’s Aphrodisiac Confection Collection ($39.60), delectable delights made with organic, fair-trade cacao that are almost too pretty to eat.
The collection, available through Feb. 14, contains 18 pieces of ganache- or caramel-filled delights in nine flavors with aphrodisiac qualities. Selections include ginger, to stoke the circulatory system; fig fennel, for the stimulant effect of fig; and licorice, which enhances sexual vigor according to the Kama Sutra. Our favorites were the rose (flowers and candy in one!) and the ghost chili — the sweet caramel, slightly bitter chocolate, salt dusting and hot chili pepper gave our taste buds quite a workout.
We think this is a delicious and socially responsible gift choice for Valentine’s Day — though conflict-free diamonds wouldn’t hurt either. Aside from sweet confections, what are you hoping for?
