Carolina Herrera's fall collection included head-to-toe feminine looks.

Stay ahead of style trends with part two of VIVmag‘s Fashion Week coverage.

Carolina Herrera
The always-chic Herrera didn’t shy away from her usual luxurious, head-to-toe feminine looks. From opaque tights paired with bejeweled pumps to glittery belts to eye-catching clutches and elegant gloves, Herrera made it a point not to let the recession stand in her way. Metallic copper and bronze, along with shots of gunmetal, added a bit of flash to the wearable yet sophisticated collection. Pops of magenta and electric blue lent a fresh feel, and the soft makeup and tasteful low-slung buns looked as though the models’ hair was inspired by Herrera herself.

Cynthia Rowley
Although Rowley chose to showcase her fall ’09 collection in a much smaller venue (the hip new Jane hotel), the designer stayed true to her own style. Her collection focused on slinky silk dresses, arty skirts and boleros accessorized with multicolored, metallic-flecked tights, statement-making belts and necklaces, slouchy boots and metallic pumps. The chocolate-brown silk dress and electric-blue ruffle wrap skirt were our top picks.

BCBGMAXAZRIA
For Max Azria, this fall is all about back to the future. Geometric shapes kicked off his collection, which featured solid-colored, drapey dresses and jackets in raw silk and hammered satin in cream, ivory, lavender and dusty rose. The line then transitioned into sepia, shibori-dyed and hand-painted fabrics. Refreshing jersey micro dresses and raw-velvet open-back gowns rounded out the fashion-forward collection.
