Group training remains a top fitness trend, according to the American Council on Exercise.
We’re working on our list of fitness resolutions right now, so the American Council on Exercise‘s recent predictions for 2010′s top 10 trends in exercise is timely. So what’s the no. 1 trend? Cost- consciousness. No surprise there. But we love trend no. 4: “Exer-gaming.” That means staying at home to play with our Wii (an economical choice, once you’ve shelled out for the Nintendo Sport and Fit set-ups) and cyber-boxing, bowling and golfing to our heart’s content. That one’s going right on the resolutions list!
ACE also predicts that exer-gaming will make its way into health clubs, as it already has in physical therapy offices such as Evolution Physical Therapy in Playa Vista, CA, where the Wii Fit is used to help patients with balance training.
Other trends on ACE’s list are reappearing from past years and include: group training; shorter, high-intensity (aka, boot camp) workouts; and dance-based classes. None of this is too surprising, at least if you’ve set foot in a health club in the past year or so and witnessed the Zumba and boot-camp madness. “Functional fitness” also makes the list, with a special shout-out from ACE to TRX, a free-form suspension training system we love.
What are your fitness resolutions for 2010?

This is great info! Ihear so many good things about Zumba. WOndering — if anyone knows anything about MM21 (the Montenegro Method)? I have been hearing some very good things about this plan also…and there is an at home DVD, which I actually prefer with my hectic lifestyle! If anyone has tried let me know what ya think!
