With Mother’s Day approaching May 10, we look for the perfect gift for the woman who always has been there for us, with unwavering love and support. For something that matches a mom’s natural beauty and one-of-a-kind love, we thought we’d try Om Aroma’s Pearls & Diamonds Collection ($125), featuring organic Elixir de Perle Mother-of-Pearl Facial Cleanser and Crème Luxe White Truffle Age-Defy Face Cream.
All Om Aroma & Co. products are organic and free of parabens, formaldehyde, mineral oil and synthetic fragrance. The facial cleanser contains powdered mother-of-pearl, aloe vera, chamomile and lavender essential oil to gently exfoliate, leaving us with a refreshing, cooling sensation. The cream contains white truffle extract, called “White Diamond” by Om for its skin-illuminating effects. Also containing red raspberry, watermelon and pumpkin seed to restore elasticity and sweet almond to moisturize and protect, it’s no wonder the age-defying cream smells good enough to eat.
Founder Angela Jia Kim — also a concert pianist — painstakingly came up with the first Om skin cream in her Manhattan kitchen after a body lotion caused an allergic reaction before a performance. The products are not tested on animals — in fact, when formulating the cream, Kim bravely tested the products on herself and her husband, Marc. Especially appropriate for Mother’s Day is the fact all items are hand-packaged by women re-entering the workforce through the Dollars & Scents program, inspired by Kim’s own mother, who taught piano to support three daughters after becoming a widow.
