Odwalla recently introduced Pink Poetry Superfood fruit smoothie and donated $25,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Odwalla recently introduced Pink Poetry Superfood smoothie.

We know several brave women who have battled breast cancer, and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October is a special time for them and the other 2.5 million survivors in the United States. In honor of the occasion, Odwalla has launched its Pink Poetry Superfood fruit smoothie, packed with antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, as well as iron and calcium, which are often lacking in women’s diets. The company is donating $25,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a not-for-profit that funds breast-cancer research and awareness programs.

Pink Poetry contains plum, dark sweet cherry, guava and other juices, as well as hibiscus, cranberry and green tea extracts. The beverage contains apple and orange juice and banana purée, and no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, after non-melanoma skin cancers, and it’s estimated that about 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2009. To read about foods that can decrease or increase breast-cancer risk, click here to read “Your Breast Friends” in our September/October issue.

We are inspired by the survivors we know and are excited to see more and more partnerships with breast-cancer charities every year. Do you plan to do anything special for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
