We’ve been kneaded by four very skilled hands at once, slathered in seaweed and wrapped in toasty towels scented with eucalyptus, fed frozen grapes while reclining in a sunken tub sprinkled with rose petals — divine experiences all. But when our nerves were jangled last week by too many deadlines and a steady barrage of bad economic news, what we longed for was the absolutely heavenly what-me-worry Rapunzel’s Secret Hot Oil Treatment ($115) we received not long ago at the Green Valley Spa in St. George, UT.
We lay faceup, swaddled in blankets on a massage table in the fragrant spa garden, while our therapist massaged our neck, shoulders and scalp, then combed the hot Rapunzel’s Secret oil — which contains rosemary, juniper berries and carrot-seed oil — through our hair, wrapped a towel around our head and moved on to massage our hands and feet. As we gazed up at a majestic willow tree, our hair was shampooed and conditioned, then doused with a final shower of water poured from a Mexican urn. An added bonus: Our locks absolutely gleamed with health.
We wished we could take our therapist home with us; instead we did the next best thing and purchased the Hot Oil Hair Set, which includes botanical shampoo, conditioner and Rapunzel’s Secret oil ($28). This beauty treat brings back relaxing memories. What splurges are worth it to you these days?
