Figure-Flattering Cuts Rule the Runways

Here is part two of VIV’s Fashion Week coverage. Keep your eye out for these trends come spring!

Michael Kors
This show focused on both sleek and sculptured fashions in crimson, white and royal blue with shots of sunny yellow. From classic stripes, polka dots and picnic plaids to fabrics such as surfer-inspired neoprene and sleek patent accents, the collection definitely embodies a glam-beach aesthetic.

Naeem Khan
Inspired by the East, Khan describes his collection as the “Orient to Park Avenue.” Fabulous fabrics include such details as artful origami, sensual floral prints and embroidered patterns. From a stunning crimson gown with rosette details to gold sequin trousers paired with a sexy white T-shirt, there is something for every woman who enjoys looking polished and put-together.

Cynthia Rowley
Architectural designs ruled Rowley’s runway. We loved the “gravity-defying back strap dress” and sculpted bags with metal ring details – both sleek and chic. Rowley’s prints highlighted color blocking, lipstick graffiti and graphic embroidery. The streamline silhouettes were figure-flattering.

Vera Wang
With Wang, it was all about contrast. Voluminous shaped skirts, tops and dresses were balanced with skinny trousers and fitted cardigans. Delicate, feminine fabrics such as organza and silk shantung were paired with chunky sparkling necklaces and belts, making the collection a standout.
