Greenerpup's dog beds were a hit with Denise Richards.
Red-carpet glamour isn’t the only reason we look forward to the Emmys every year. In the days leading up to the event, we make the rounds at the style suites — where celebrities and their stylists indulge in pampering treatments and collect goodies to help them get ready for the big night. Our first stop last week was the HBO Luxury Lounge at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, where famed jeweler Bulgari offered beauty treatments using its new gemstone-based skin-care line (Debra Messing is a huge fan). Visitors received gift certificates for Latisse lash-growing prescriptions and picked up Brahmin handbags, as well as designer shades from Solstice Sunglass Boutique, Boiron homeopathic treatments, Sharper Image gadgets and, yes, even True Blood-inspired jewelry.
At the Madison & Mulholland Charitable Giving Suite at the London Hotel, celebs were asked to choose items that would be given to their favorite charities. They were also asked to contribute signed photos or other items for an auction that’s running on CharityBuzz.com through Oct. 13. Though Southland star Regina King didn’t attend the Emmys this year, she stopped by to support Alexandria House, an L.A.-based organization that helps battered women and children, while Raising the Bar’s Jane Kaczmarek came by to raise money for Clothes Off Our Back, a foundation she co-founded that benefits children’s charities.
A deejay, open bar and food from LA Café provided a party atmosphere at the Interior Illusions Style Lounge at a West Hollywood furnishings showroom, where visitors could pick up Napoleon Perdis cosmetics (Nicollette Sheridan and Rose McGowan are fans), footwear from the very un-Croc-like new line of You by Crocs shoes, Lucky Owl soy candles and dog beds from Greenerpup, which are made from recycled plastic bottles. Designer Kari Whitman puts 100 percent of the profits from the beds toward her dog-rescue efforts. Actor Denise Richards, who has several dogs at home, declared them her favorite.
Our final stop was the Alive! Expo Green Pavilion at the Sofitel, where sponsors included Nexus Design conflict-free diamonds, Aubrey Organics skin care and cosmetics, and the new CellCeuticals line from Extreme Makeover’s Garth Fisher, M.D. Celebs could stock up on shapewear from Kathleen Kirkwood, maker of Bust-ease adhesive bra inserts that have given a boost to the bosoms of Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep and Cheryl Hines.
