Radius will give away 500 of its eco-friendly Source toothbrushes in honor of Earth Day.
We admit we’re pretty hard on our toothbrushes, and we replace them even more often than the every three to four months recommended by the American Dental Association. So we were happy to hear about the Radius Source Toothbrush, which minimizes waste with replaceable heads that snap into long-lasting handles made of recycled materials. And if you’re one of the first 500 Facebook users to post a photo or video of a re-use for your old toothbrush on the Radius Earth Day Contest Facebook event page before Earth Day, you’ll receive a free Radius Source toothbrush!
Simply log into Facebook and go to the Radius Earth Day contest page. RSVP that you’re attending the contest, scroll down to the wall, write about the new use for your old toothbrush and share your photo or video. “The more creative, the better,” according to Radius. Ideally, the new uses will inspire more people to think twice before tossing their toothbrushes in the trash.
Source toothbrushes up for grabs include ones with handles made of recycled flax (a byproduct of linen-making), wood-cutting scraps and dollar bills retired from circulation by the U.S. Treasury. These materials are blended with recycled polypropylene to make the toothbrush handles ($6.95, including one medium or soft head). When the toothbrush head is worn out, just snap a replacement head ($6.95 for three) into the handle (it’s reversible for both lefties and righties).
The Source toothbrush is designed not only to benefit the environment, but your teeth as well, of course. There are 65 percent more bristle tufts, made of surgical-grade nylon, than the average toothbrush for more efficiency, and the fanned bristles ensure the gums are massaged.
We’ve used old toothbrushes for cleaning, but nothing that would qualify as very imaginative. Do you have a good use for an old toothbrush? Tell us below, and don’t forget to share your photo or video with Radius on Facebook as well for your free toothbrush. And while you’re there, become a fan of VIVmag as well!

These brushes look great! No good ideas for a used brush for the contest so I will have to just buy one when I find out where they are being sold.
They’re available to order online from the Radius site. Click on the red “Radius Source Toothbrush” in the post to hyperlink to the site, or go to: http://www.radiustoothbrush.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=16
