Fifteen percent of Pristine Beauty's sales benefit breast-cancer coalitions.
While searching for beauty products that benefit breast-cancer awareness causes, we came across Pristine Beauty natural skin and hair products, created by Blaire Kessler.
The former model was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 31 in 2005, shortly after the birth of her daughter, Dylan, and underwent chemotherapy along with a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. “I could not find any products out on the market for the issues I was having with my hair and skin that were 100 percent truly natural and that were effective,” Kessler says. “So I made my own after tons of research.” At the suggestion of her husband, Rod, she decided to put her carcinogen-free, vegan body cream, natural deodorant and hair treatment on the market in 2008 to help other survivors. Ten percent of Pristine Beauty’s proceeds goes to the Young Survival Coalition and 5 percent is donated to the Cancer Prevention Coalition.
The Pristine Beauty collection includes Creamsicle-scented Take a Whiff! natural deodorant ($22) and lemon-meringue-pie-scented Hooray for Brallywood Butta ($36), which is designed to repair skin and improve the appearance of scars and is free of mineral oil, phthalates and parabens. Kessler created No Scary Hairy ($32) for her fragile hair during treatment, but the serum can be used by anyone with stressed hair or scalp. All three are available in a gift set ($85), available in a 1940s-inspired wire keepsake handbag or vanity tray, and every product is packaged with a touch of old Hollywood and feminine sass, sure to bring a smile to the faces of recipients. “The customer base that are cancer survivors are so thankful that someone finally is making something natural,” Kessler says. “They are also grateful that someone who has been through the same things they have was the one who created the products because I know what we need and the issues we are sensitive to.”
