Tonight, coveted statuettes will be handed out in a star-studded event at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York City to the best in the business. And we’re not talking about the Oscars, but rather the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards.

The bride may wear white, but we’ve noticed the prevailing ethos at many weddings these days is green, as more couples opt for eco-conscious celebrations. What does this mean for guests? La Prairie’s new Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20 sounds like the title of a college course. So it makes sense that the skin cream is an intelligent skin-care choice. Not only is sun protection smart — in this case, thanks to marine-derived phytoplankton that defends against ultraviolet rays — but the product also is eco-friendly.

As a child, we missed out on summer camp: This is why we had to take swimming lessons as an adult and have subpar marshmallow-roasting skills. Now, we have a second chance — a getaway Aug. 20–23 for women ages 25–75 in southern Maine at Camp Reveille, designed by Joan Lunden, a proponent of women’s wellness and longtime co-host of Good Morning America. Even better, if you submit an essay of 200 words or less by June 15, you have a chance to win a complimentary enrollment for yourself or a friend!

Through June 12, pizza-lovers can submit a favorite original recipe using any type of Lindsay Olives for the chance to win a $250 pizza party at the restaurant of his or her choice.

We’re all for beignets and brûlées, macaroons and mousse, but sometimes what we really crave are the simple desserts of our youth — a double-layer yellow cake with chocolate frosting or chocolate cupcakes iced with vanilla. Truth is, some of those confections of yore came right out of a box, but these days we’re a lot more health-conscious than we were back when we counted the candles on our birthday cake on our fingers.

We first heard the piano strains, vulnerable vocals and deeply personal lyrics of Tori Amos on her debut album, Little Earthquakes (Atlantic/WEA, 1992). Since then, we’ve watched the talented singer/songwriter/pianist score hits such as “Cornflake Girl” and “A Sorta Fairytale” and explore conceptual work, such as the creation of five characters to represent different aspects of her personality in American Doll Posse (Sony, 2007). With Abnormally Attracted to Sin, the 45-year-old Amos’ 10th album, the Doll Posse is still around, making cameos on some of 16 video vignettes filmed by Christian Lamb.
