VIV Moment
I had my VIV Moment the morning after I spent the first night in my new townhouse. Recently separated, I slept on an air mattress that was given to me by a friend, and I slept like a baby. I remember waking up with a smile on my face, thinking that this was the first day of the new me — my new life. The week that followed was a myriad of events that left me very humbled. One after another I received phone calls and visits from friends. They offered me furniture, brought groceries, gift cards and housewarming gifts.
By month’s end, my house was furnished and homey, and as I sat on my sofa and looked around the room (which I find myself doing often), I realized how many people really cared about me, supported me and loved me. I also realized how many friends I truly had and never recognized how I touched their lives in many ways as well.
To this day, I love having people over and showing off my home and all my treasures in it. I am 37 years old and, for the first time in my life, I am on my own. I am confident and independent and can’t wait for the next adventure to come my way. I just recently called my sister Melissa to ask her where we we’re going next; I’m ready!
