VIV Moment
I was climbing Mount Whitney when I started developing blisters. I was only at the initial part of the ascent, and I realized that I probably wouldn’t reach the summit. I remember thinking that it didn’t matter, as I knew I could achieve the same happiness by exploring an alpine lake or sitting beneath the trees and napping for the rest of the day. I did ascend the peak eventually, but it became clear to me that the interaction with nature throughout the journey is why I do the things I do.
The experiences along the way of reaching the next peak (like seeing a herd of elk in the meadow ahead) are my incentive.
At various times in my life I have left the familiarity of my current path in pursuit of a different direction moving from Alaska to Los Angeles to Park City. I continue to look for new inspiring journeys and the moments along the way.
