VIV Moment
My childhood was emotionally limiting, and dreaming outside the box was not encouraged. When I was in the fourth grade, my favorite aunt suggested that I enter a Coca-Cola contest. The topic: 25 words or less on why I served Coke at my parties. I had never thrown a party; thus, my first attempt at fiction. I don’t know how much time passed before that car with the Coca-Cola hubcaps pulled up in front of our house. I won first prize: a “hi-fi” and an Eddie Fisher record. The bug bit. Nothing could stop me. I was going to be a writer.
