VIV Moment

You know, I’ve been lucky to have a lot of VIV in a fairly young life. But surprisingly, the defining moment that moves me has nothing to do with my travel or volunteer activities and no relationship to my career. The moment came in my garden. I spent the past two years transforming my front lawn into a xeriscaped West Coast garden full of organic, edible plants. When I started out, I knew nothing about gardening, except how to kill potted orchids. It has really been a two-year evolution and I truly earned my green thumb. But last week, after a marathon mulch and weeding session, I turned around and looked at my front yard and realized that somewhere along the way, it evolved from a mud and weed pit to a truly enchanted garden filled with sage, rosemary, strawberries, lemons, chives and roses.
