Music plays a major part in supermodel Heidi Klum’s life — after all, she’s married to the extraordinarily talented vocalist Seal. So when personal trainer Andrea Orbeck arrives at Klum’s house for training, Orbeck often finds Klum and her kids dancing to Seal’s new CD, System. “I upload music all the time, since I like to have my clients do cardio to upbeat tunes, especially when they do speed or incline intervals on the treadmill or bike,” says Orbeck. “Heidi [really] does listen to her Seal all the time, and she even has her own CD [out] in Germany for kids … she has a really pretty voice. She also sang with Seal at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” adds Orbeck.

I am always looking for new music so Julianne can build her library. If a good song comes on during our session, we’ll wrap it into our workout. People see us dancing and laughing in our own little world. It’s good fun! Each session is very joyful.”

It should include inspiration from the choreography, your movement and the music,” explains McBrearty, who is a certified personal trainer and choreographer based in New York City. The following playlist is the perfect match to a Balocity workout. “It’s an upbeat mix of motivational music with rhythm, beat and continuous flow,” she says. “You don’t need classical music to feel like a dancer.” To read more about McBrearty and her Balocity workout, click here to download VIVmag’s November/December 2007 issue, available now.

Professional trainer Ron Mathews and actor Lauren Graham have spent many hours training together in the gym over the past two years. Music is a key element for the duo, as it fuels their workout sessions. “Lauren and I prefer rock ’n’ roll and rap for more intense training like leg work, jumping moves and plyometrics,” says Mathews. The following up-tempo tunes also “inspire us to push hard when we lift weights.” (When they do cardio, they prefer more mellow music.) To read more about Graham and the training program Mathews created for her, see VIVmag’s September/October 2007 issue.
