If you receive this error message, there was a license failure during the download of the publication. Will Zinio work on my computer?

How do I install Zinio software?

  • For PC Users: Visit zinio.com/GetReader and follow the steps for your FREE, secure and fast download. Installation requires a one-time registration and takes up less than 30MB of space on your hard drive.
  • For Mac Users: If you are on a Mac using OS X 10.3, you already have Zinio Reader installed! Go to the Applications folder on your hard drive, open the Zinio folder at the bottom and double-click on the Zinio Reader icon. Enter your email address and a password to activate the Zinio Reader, and your magazine will begin to download. It’s that simple.

If you have Mac OS X 10.3 or higher installed but Zinio is not already in your Applications folder, visit zinio.com/GetReader and follow the steps for your free, secure and fast download. Installation requires a one-time registration and takes up less than 30MB of space on your hard drive.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet in order to read VIVmag?

You do need an Internet connection when you are signing up for your VIVmag subscription. After that, whenever you are online and a new issue of VIVmag is ready, you will get a message from Zinio asking if you are ready to download. Once your issue has downloaded, it remains on your desktop in your dedicated Zinio Reader subscriptions folder. That means VIVmag can be viewed wherever you are, even if you do not have access to the Internet.

I’m having trouble downloading the Zinio Reader at work.

Your employer may restrict software downloads via security software. This firewall protects the company’s system from viruses. The Zinio Reader is VIVmag’s trusted digital-distribution partner and does not contain any viruses.If you want to download the Zinio Reader at work, ask your system administrator or IT department to authorize the download for you. For more information, check Zinio.com/help.

I’m getting error messages while installing the Zinio Reader on my Mac.

If you are having difficulty upgrading or installing the Zinio Reader for Mac or receive the message “Cannot locate email address,” it is because the Zinio Reader is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 or lower. Check out the complete system requirements at zinio.com/reqs.If the above doesn’t apply, something may be blocking the Zinio Delivery Manager from registering properly. If you are using any type of Internet security applications or hardware, you may need to reconfigure them to allow the Zinio Delivery Manager full access to the Internet.Here’s how:

  1. Click the Apple Menu, and select System Preferences.
  2. Select Network, then click the Proxies tab.
  3. In the Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains section, enter: zinio.com
  4. Click Apply Now.

Once you’ve completed these steps, run the Zinio Reader again and click Tools. Then select Check for Magazines. The Zinio Reader should now activate and download your magazine(s).If you still cannot activate the Zinio Reader after reconfiguring your network settings, find and delete the ContentGuard folder. This is usually located in your User folder under Library, in the Preferences subfolder. Be sure to Empty Trash afterward.If the above instructions do not solve this particular problem, please contact VIV Customer Support.

I’m having trouble reading VIVmag’s text on my PC. Do you have any tips?

There is a Control Panel setting on your computer called ClearType that provides enhanced viewing capability.To use ClearType for screen fonts:

  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes, then click Display.
  2. On the Appearance tab, click Effects.
  3. Click to select Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts, and then click ClearType in the list.

I’m a Mac user and I can’t get the pages to VIVify; I click the “V” button, but nothing happens. What’s wrong?

The problem you are experiencing is most likely due to a setting in QuickTime. Open QuickTime Player in your Mac’s Applications folder. (You can access this from your Dock or hard drive.) In the menu bar, click on QuickTime Player (it should be the first item on the top left) and scroll down to QuickTime Preferences. Next, click on Advanced and then check the box next to Enable Flash. Then, quit QuickTime.If the Zinio Reader is still open, quit and restart the application. If you had already closed it prior to opening QuickTime, start up the Zinio Reader as you would normally. Once you have returned to VIVmag, double-click the red VIVify button to fully interact with the page.

Why aren’t the videos in VIVmag playing?

In order to view videos on your PC or Mac, you need to have QuickTime software loaded on your computer. You may already have QuickTime; it now comes bundled with Apple iTunes. But if you cannot find QuickTime in your applications folder and/or have never downloaded iTunes, click here to download it to your PC or click here to download to your Mac and follow further instructions.

I’m having trouble clicking to turn pages.

If you are having trouble turning pages by clicking the page corner with your mouse, you can go to the bottom arrow tool and click forward. Additionally, you can use your keyboard forward and back arrows to flip through.
